Real and False Memories

Some therapists use hypnosis to recover possibly repressed memories they believe are linked to the person’s mental issue. However, hypnosis with an unexperienced hypnotherapist also poses a risk of creating false memories. Usually, they are a result of unintended suggestions from the therapist. Other times clients have a strong desire to believe in something. Experienced hypnotherapists are really careful and tend to use memories more as metaphors, as hints from the unconscious.
