Overview
The fear of beautiful women
Does the thought of beautiful women make you nauseous?
Does it trigger a dry mouth and clammy hands?
Does your heart feel like it’s going to pound right out of your chest?
Do your legs turn to rubber bands?
Yes, there are people out there who are ever scared of pretty women. Caligynephobia is an intense fear that poses no actual danger. While adults with Caligynephobia realize that these fears are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing, the feared situation brings on a panic attack or severe anxiety.
This fear is called Caligynephobia, Venustraphobia, and fear of beautiful women. Caligynephobia is defined as a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of beautiful women. It is a surprisingly common phobia, and it causes countless people needless distress. This kind of fear often significantly impacts the quality of life.
Symptoms
Caligynephobic symptoms can be mental, emotional and physical. The anxiety and fear can go from mild feelings of apprehension to a full-blown panic attack. Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread. Everyone experiences symptoms from Caligynephobia in their own way and may have different symptoms. Living with fear means you can never concentrate fully and give your best. The risks are lost opportunities, poor performance or grades, and promotions that pass you by.
The actual phobia manifests itself in different ways. Some sufferers experience it almost all the time, others just in response to direct stimuli. There is even the fear of women in general, called Gynephobia.
Cause
Caligynephobia is sometimes caused by an intense negative experience from the past. Like all fears and phobias, Caligynephobia is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At some point in your past, there was likely an event linking beautiful women and emotional trauma. But your mind can also create that fear seemingly without basis. An important key in hypnotherapy is finding the source and replacing negative and limiting associations with positive ones.
