Ideomotor Response
An ideomotor response is an involuntary unconscious physical movement of a part of the body by the subconscious as a result of a suggestion or a question.
A response emanating from an individual’s subconscious mind via the central nervous system.
Such a response is a way of avoiding judgments of the conscious mind.
Examples:
- Handwriting
- Arm rising while in trance
- Specific fingers raise while in trance
This is commonly used to communicate with the unconscious mind e.g. “Raise the left index finger for yes, raise the right index finger for no.”
