Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a very common functional disorder of the gastrointestinal system.
Irritable bowel syndrome is thought to be due to changes in the way the gut functions but is not associated with any observable structural changes to the gut.
It is a disorder that comes and goes.

Nerves that control the muscles in the functional gastrointestinal tract are too active.
The functional gastrointestinal tract becomes sensitive to food, stool, gas, and stress.
This causes abdominal pain, bloating, and constipation or diarrhea.

The Irritable bowel syndrome is also called spastic colon or mucous colitis.

It is important to see a medical doctor for a thorough check before you make an appointment for psychotherapy.
Although there is no cure for the Irritable bowel syndrome, there are things that can help.

Hypnotherapy can help the client an individual to learn relaxation techniques and new ways to manage stress.
As our state of mind can have an impact on our physical well-being, the tension, stress and anxiety that living with Irritable bowel syndrome can cause, may undermine our immune system and actually further compromise our health.
Therefore learning how to deeply relax and manage stress become useful tools.
Hypnosis can also promote positive thinking and coping strategies by accessing the unconscious mind in a deep state of trance.
